Run one command. No key is needed: setup lets you sign in with Google, and a new account gets 100 free units.
# macOS and Linux
curl -fsSL https://blindhush.com/install.sh | sh
# Windows (PowerShell)
irm https://blindhush.com/install.ps1 | iex
The installer:
- Downloads the client for your system (about 56 MB on Linux) and checks its checksum.
- Asks for your API key, or press Enter to sign in with Google: it shows a short code and opens blindhush.com/start. Check that the page shows the same code, then sign in. The key arrives in the client by itself and is stored in the system keychain. For a new account, setup also prints a recovery code to save; another computer on the same account gets its own key.
- Points Claude Code and Codex at the local proxy on
127.0.0.1:8788, after backing up their settings. - Starts the client when you log in.
Restart Claude Code or Codex afterwards. Check that everything works:
blindhush status
Requirements
| System | Needs |
|---|---|
| macOS | macOS 13 or newer, Apple silicon or Intel |
| Linux | x86_64 with glibc 2.34 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora 35+) |
| Windows | Windows 10 or 11 with WSL2 and a Linux distribution (details) |
The client uses about 150 MB of memory and one CPU core while it checks text.
Without the prompt
Sign in with Google without being asked: sh -s -- --free. If you bought units, pass the key directly (it then appears in your shell history, so prefer the prompt on shared machines):
curl -fsSL https://blindhush.com/install.sh | sh -s -- --key bh_live_…
Other options: --no-claude, --no-codex, --no-autostart. To remove BlindHush, see uninstall.
